Bridge the gap between phonemic awareness and beginning phonics! Pre-readers and beginning and practice letter and phoneme recognition by cutting out word or picture cards and sorting them according to each lesson's focus. Activities require very little reading ability. Dr. Fry developed both the Fry Readability Graph and a list of "Instant Words," the words that readers need to be able to comprehend instantly because they are so commonly used.
